As we often flip through the images of expansive villas and amazing apartments, we tend to stumble across really lavish dining rooms that almost appear unreal. While you cannot replicate the magnitude, there is no reason why one should not add a dining space that is equally sophisticated and charming. To achieve this in limited space, try to think beyond the usual formula of just one table and four or six identical chairs. As you can see with the many homes featured here, loveseats, small couches, acrylic chairs coupled with compact sofas and a combination of completely different chairs can be used to craft a stunning and eclectic dining room.

This is good news for those of us who are on a budget or who simply change our minds often and want the flexibility of switching out one centerpiece for another on a whim. Deciding on a centerpiece for the dining room table can be a bit daunting… How do pick a scene stealer for a piece of furniture, or in some cases, an entire room? Believe it or not, the more we investigated this very question, the more it became clear that sometimes less is more.

Crafted by cutting the pallet slats to a uniform size, attaching them to a piece of plywood, and adding some super attractive hairpin legs, this table radiates an amazing vintage, rustic vibe!

In fact, when the light hangs low enough, sometimes it becomes a substitute centerpiece. What table trinkets could possibly compete with the circular-motif pendant light below, shown hanging over the Mille dining table by Bonaldo?

Have a small kitchen island and only a small amount of space to work with? Try extending your kitchen island by attaching some plywood or lumber, adding legs, and painting it a fun color like this DIY project, originally from Mixr.se and featured on Trendir. I love that they also painted the side of the island’s countertop to seamlessly tie everything together!
