Ninette Bourdon. Living Room. June 03rd , 2017.
This wonderful white living room works because the lack of color draws attention to the beautiful crown molding. If you look closely, the paint colors actually accentuate the molding. The layers of architectural detail are painted in different shades of white to distinguish the texture, and the result is stunning!
We will start with the simplest and most commonly chosen wall colors – light walls. Light walls are common for a reason; they give your space a fresh and clean feel. For small spaces, a light wall color is perfect because it will make the space feel bigger and more open. Additionally, this is the most versatile wall category. Light and bright walls look great in almost any style of home! For a Scandinavian Modern look choose clean white, for an airy crisp room choose a light blue, and for a country cottage choose cream or a hint of yellow. This wall choice truly has a lot of potential.
The smartest thing you can do for your small space: choose compatible furniture. Nothing adds visual clutter like over-sized pieces in a compact area. Try modular furniture instead! Pair two small ottomans to form one long coffee table. When it’s time to open up the room, move them to the side, or use them for extra seating.
Next we see a New York City loft living room, which reminds us of how 3-sided seating can be perfect for large spaces. In other words, create a U-shape with your sofas and chairs, moving them away from the wall if necessary. Add a fun touch here and there, like the 1960s Pedro Friedeberg Hand chair and Alvar Alto lounge chairs shown below.
