Keep it simple while adding value by using an island to significantly increase the amount of counter space in your kitchen. Having more counter space adds obvious benefits: more room for meal prep, multiple chefs and can serve as an eating area. Create contrast by using a different material or color for the island counters than you did in the rest of the room. If your regular countertops are white quartz, try black or a dark stained wood for the island.
Accessorizing with colors is also an easy and inexpensive alternative to renew any room. Colorful bar stools, chairs, window treatments or accessories can really breathe new life to the kitchen while giving you the freedom to update with new colors every year.
Don't forget kitchen storage. Even if you have a small kitchen, you can remodel in such a way as to give you the storage you need to maximize space. Don't have a shelf tall enough to hold that electric stand mixer? Make one! Custom storage and cabinetry can free up counter space and help you cook more efficiently.
Creating a standout feature is a terrific way to introduce a new hue while updating your kitchen. Select something in the kitchen to highlight; this can be a backsplash, center island, shelf wall or even a kitchen appliance.
